Mental Health Overview
Addressing a Growing Mental Health Crisis
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has revealed that 1 in 5 U.S. children ages 3–17 has a mental, emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorder.
Why is this a problem? What are the risk factors?
Young people are at the risk of developing a mental health problem due to risks in families, at schools, among peers, and within the larger society that they live in.
our solutions
How Can We Solve These Problems?
There are also risk factors possible in children’s biology or genetics. Our vision is for all adolescent American children to receive free therapy services and be engaged in positive activities such as therapeutic photography to find their true selves out of these problems.
We partner with schools, religious institutions, hospitals and pediatric therapists to organize and sponsor programs for adolescents to regain sound mental health.
Our tactic involves community membership, therapeutic photography, interactive activities, professional therapy, and creative empowerment. We also leverage technology such as our online platform and familiar tools such as phones, laptops and the camera to effectively connect our adolescent patients to therapy in the modern world.
our COMMUNITY
An authentic community with counselors
Our nonprofit uses the social community model to bring counselors to help young adults in the fight against mental health struggles.
Adolescents ages 10-19 join our authentic community at The 3rd Element Center, online and/or onsite for a fulfilling journey.
We give our members access to licensed therapists and access to a number of programs for promoting mental health, skill acquisition, self-empowerment, positive social interactions, and self-discovery.
our METHODS
Our Approach
Our licensed counselors use tested methods in executing sessions for our community members. Counselors understand the best approach to adolescent therapy. The below approaches are crucial in our programs.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
- Somatic therapy
- Photo Therapy
- Family Therapy
- Internal Family Systems Therapy

- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy
A combination of physical, hormonal, family, and society factors create wild changes and subliminal effects in teens. Our counseling for young adults covers mental health topics and therapeutic photography. This addresses inner peace, body, mind, and skills.
The topics covered in our Therapeutic Photography curriculum can be found here.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
What Should Parents do?
Guardians and parents have a responsibility to seek the mental wellness of their young people. Our programs accept parental approval and referral of adolescents to The 3rd Element community. This opens the opportunity for parents to enroll their adolescent children and help them fight symptoms as well as track their progress in therapy
